MRST claims top four spots in men's giant slalom; Hannah Bodily returns with seventh-place finish
STEVENS PASS — Alec Jones gave himself and his Mission Ridge Ski Team a third straight victory Monday at the Northwest Cup men's races here.
But he wasn't the only MRST athlete to stand out in the giant slalom race.
MRST's Austin Dean was second, followed by teammates Danny O'Neal in third and Cai Yamamoto in fourth. Max Tobler (12th) and Fred Williams (16th) also cracked the top 20.
In the women's giant slalom, Mission Ridge's Hannah Bodily made her return to the slopes a good one, finishing seventh overall.
For Jones, the giant slalom victory capped a strong weekend of Northwest Cup racing. He won slaloms on both Saturday and Sunday. And as he did in the other races, Jones won comfortably on Monday, clocking a combined time of 1 minute, 33.97 for his two runs, to beat Dean by nearly a second.
Dean and O'Neal saved their best performance of the weekend for Monday. Other top 10 finishes at Stevens Pass included Yamamoto's runner-up finish on Sunday and Tobler's third-place finish on Saturday.
Bodily had two solid runs Monday to finish with a time of 1:41.26 in the women's giant slalom. Melissa Eik of Stevens Pass won for the second consecutive day, this time in 1:38.06.
The Northwest Cup next stops at Mount Bachelor in Oregon from Feb. 20-23.Race Results
