It's beautiful up here this morning for a couple reasons... crisp, clear day at the mountain and we're opening this Saturday, Nov. 23!
Temperatures in the teens the last couple days mean our snowmakers have been kicking tail. We've got piles of snow 15 feet high in places. We received enough natural snow earlier this month in the upper basin to open, but we needed better coverage on Mimi... and we've now got it.
The mountain will open with Chairs 1 & 2 (the Liberator Express quad) and the Pika Peak rope tow in operation. The ski school will be open, as well as the restaurant with an early season menu. The #100LAPS Terrain Park will not be open this weekend, but we plan to open it Nov. 29.
Terrain will definitely be limited, with just the groomed runs on Tumwater, Sunspot and Mimi opening. The good news: The cold temps mean the snow conditions should be really good. We've been blowing powder.
Current forecasts call for sunny skies throughout the weekend.
Lift ticket prices will be discounted to $20 for ages 7-69, and $5 for ages 6 & under and 70+ to reflect the limited opening of chairlifts and terrain.
Events to kick-off the season:
• Warren Miller Showing tomorrow night at the Wenatchee Convention Center at 6 p.m. Tickets are $13.50 at the door. Learn more.
• “Black Tie & Boots” snow dance party at Pybus Public Market Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Free. Live music and beer specials. More details coming.
