11/22/25 Conditions Report

The snowmaking crew has valiantly carved out an enclave of winter conditions on Sunspot and Tumwater 2, as fall stubbornly hangs on to the rest of the mountain. With gradually rising temperatures to close out the week, the team was pushed farther up the mountain but was able to hang onto some high-elevation production until around 1pm on Friday (11/21). Snow depths are starting to look solid on those upper slopes that enjoyed a sustained spell of snowmaking this week, but these marginal temperatures are really keeping the crew from getting much work done below Midway – where temperatures are currently well above 40.

We are eagerly awaiting a forecasted cooling trend heading into Sunday night which is likely to usher in several days of favorable snowmaking conditions. There is also the potential for a bit of natural snow to enter the mix this week which could give a boost to the crew.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for a Thanksgiving weekend opening, but this balmy weekend weather is absolutely not doing us any favors. We really need those cold temps to take a stronger hold so the team can get those guns firing down to the Base Area for a sustained duration. Rest assured that our snowmakers are primed and ready to get the guns blowing as soon as conditions allow.

What’s on this weekend?

We’ve been glad to hang out above the inversion over the last several days, and today is no exception. Here at the Chair 5 Pub, we’re enjoying some great hot food in front of the crackling fireplace as we float above the sea of clouds in the valley. If you’re getting a bit dreary down there, come on up for a laid-back slopeside meal! The restaurant will be open Friday-Sunday until we open for skiing and riding.
