Skiers descend the Tumwater trail at Mission Ridge on a snowy day

12/7/25 Conditions Report

3:10 Operations Update:

Chair 2 will be closed for the remainder of the day due to high winds at the summit. Chair 1 & the Pika Peak Rope Tow will remain open.

2:50 Operations Update:

Chair 2 is currently on hold due to high winds. We will continue to update regarding the status of Chair 2 for the remainder of the day.

9:40 Conditions Update:

This new snow is just what we needed! Our 1.5 inches from overnight the summit has been bolstered by some steady snowfall over the last couple hours, and it’s getting pretty soft up top. Snow quality is lighter on Sunspot, where the side of the runs are getting some good piles to throw around atop a firmer base. Lower down, snow quality is denser and it’s adhering better to the groomed surface, resulting in great, grippy snow conditions to hold those edges. With continued snowfall likely, I’m feeling super optimistic about the direction conditions are headed in today. Hopefully we can grab a couple more inches to keep things refreshed and build a bit more base on the runs that haven’t opened yet.

Visibility is poor at the summit but improves significantly once you drop down the first pitch on Sunspot. I think it’s shaping up to be the best conditions of Opening Weekend. We’d love to see you up here!

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning Skiers! The sun is not yet up and already we are seeing a few things I am excited about. The first is a calm drive up to the mountain! What a difference it was from yesterday’s gusts. From our weather data, it looks like it is currently pretty calm at lower elevations with a slightly stronger breeze at the summit. The forecast predicts the same. The second- Just a little bit of snow. The top of the mountain is benefitting from that westerly weather pattern and accumulating white bit by bit, including through today where we are scheduled to receive a little more snowfall throughout the day today at the summit. I’m hoping this will whip our piste into shape before the holidays. That’d be a great gift from nature to us all. Even the base had a little dusting despite warmer temperatures overnight. Anticipate firmer snow at the base of the mountain and softer snow at the summit.

We encourage you to ease into the season and, as always, ski and ride with care. Early season conditions and areas of thin cover will exist, and remember to respect all rope lines and trail closures – they are there for your safety.

This early-season, we’re continuing our tradition of honoring local heroes through the Firefighter and Emergency Personnel Appreciation program. From Opening Day through December 14th, we’re inviting Firefighters, EMTs, and Law Enforcement professionals—including 2025 seasonal personnel—to enjoy free skiing and riding as a thank-you for their service. See you on the mountain!
