10:00am conditions Update:
Crisp, calm skies, classic cords, grand vistas, and gorgeous views, there really is snow place you want to be today! Our snowmaking crew and grooming teams have been working hard to give you the goods. The cool temps are making those cords glide firm and fresh underfoot, making them great to lay down some awesomely edge-able turns from summit to base. As I glided my way down mid basin towards lower Tumwater, I noticed the snow soften a little more than the summit and I was really able to lean out over my skis and angle those edges in for a good hold, making this snow reporter, one very happy shredder! Towards the base I enjoyed watching kids session the Lil Bomber Park, learning new tricks and having fun. Down at the beginner’s slope there were lots of happy faces learning how to ski and ride, and I even had a chance to thank some of our wonderful snowmakers for the epic job they are doing! And this was all before 10am!
It really feels like winter out, with temps are hovering in the mid 20’s, with temps a little cooler at base than the summit, which will stay that way through out the day and into the evening. Be sure to layer up! We expect these cool temps will help the groomers hold through the day, with off-piste runs remaining firm, variable, and exposed patches in places. We advise you ski and ride with caution if you should choose to venture off the groomed runs.
There is lots to come today with DJ Good Cat returning for listening pleasure, playing some sweet beats at the base from 12-2pm today. Then good times will keep rolling into the evening as we turn on the lights for night riding and Mountain Music is set with Bandits of the Animal Kingdom to keep you jammin’ away on and off snow!
See you on the mountain!
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers and riders,
There’s snow place you’d rather be on this cool, sunny, Saturday, than up the Ridge! It was a gleaming, glowing, glorious sight to actually see the sparkly snowmaking lights from the valley this morning, (hooray, no more gloomy inversion!) With the drop in temps this week our snowmaking teams have been getting after it, working hard both through the days and the nights to do what they do best, make snow for you wonderful folks!
Weather outlook on the mountain today is dishing up more sunshine and light winds, as that high pressure system still clings to the Northwest region. We are expecting temps to trend toward the inverted kind again, meaning warmer air returning to the upper to middle elevation slopes, and colder air temps lingering below, frosting our base area buildings.
We are currently seeing temps in the low 20s across the mountain, with the expectation of temps to stay below freezing through out the day and into the evening, so be sure to layer up for maximum fun! This also means, snowmakers should be able to resume their work through out the day to continue to build up more snow for y’all. So be sure to give our snowmaking crew a high 5 if you see them on the slopes today!
