10:00 Conditions Update:Â
Conditions are fantastic today, and I just enjoyed some of my favorite turns of the season! Our recent snowfall has left us with smooth and buttery corduroy that’s ideal to carve and edge into with confidence. Sunny skies and great visibility only add to the cruising perfection, and it’s lovely to have some additional runs open to vary things up. Consistent turns and expansive valley views are hard to beat on this bluebird day. I also had a chance to hike out onto Windy Ridge to seek out some pow stashes. While ungroomed terrain remains variable in coverage and suitable only for advanced riders who are willing to enter some potentially sharky waters, there are some big rewards to be found out there. I enjoyed some nearly-untracked turns dropping off the ridgeline into 6-12ish inches of fresh snow, before descending onto some ungroomed Chair 3 terrain and finally arcing some fresh corduroy turns back to the base. It’s gonna be a great day both on and off the pistes.
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
The dawn is breaking over another beautiful day at The Ridge. That light is casting the snow-laden trees in a wash of pastels as the sun rises and I think it’s going to be a great day to get some laps. We are taking a break from the wintery weather today to soak up some sun and it looks like the whole mountain will be basking in it. Despite the sunny forecast, we are going to get some wind and with it some wind chill with wind chill values predicted to drop as low as -2F at the summit. Make sure to dress for success by layering well, covering all exposed skin, and making sure to take breaks to warm up in Midway Lodge or Hampton Lodge.
Expect some softer groomers with a nice spreadable consistency today. We received a bit of snow throughout the week and it is bonding well with our existing snowpack, creating a silky surface to carve some corduroy into. Terrain open on natural snow only, like Chair 3 terrain and off-piste terrain, might have some stashes left if you know where to look, but the snow there can be thin and variable with hidden obstacles, so ride with caution.
See you on the mountain!
