2:45 Parking Update:

Spots are opening up in the Base Area lots.

11:15 Operations Update:

Chair 2 is now open. All Chairlifts are now open.

10:00 Conditions Update:

WE have some DEEP, DEEP, DEEP conditions out there.  As of this writing Chair 2 remains on standby. We have had several inches fall since the morning grooming. This provided a handful of early birds with some hero turns, The groomed runs under the fresh pow are soft and perfectly edgeable. We have said it before, we will say it again, it is hard to beat March in the PNW. The good conditions are expected to last all day!

Visibility is fair, it is extremely overcast and still snowing.  Winds are considerably reduced from yesterday. It is great out there, it is deep out there, but remember, the last 48 hours worth of new snow have fallen upon a very thin existing snowpack. The extremely light, dry nature of the new snow makes it great fun, but also means it may not keep you afloat above any hidden obstacles.

Finally, avalanche danger is rated as Considerable today. As always, it is extremely important to stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

9:45 Operations Update:

Chair 3 is now open, in addition to Chair 1, Chair 4, and the Pika Peak surface lifts.  Chair 2 remains on standby at this time as the team completes avalanche mitigation work.

9:30 Operations Update:

Chair 1, Chair 4, and the Pika Peak surface lifts are now open. Chair 2 and Chair 3 remain on standby at this time as the team completes avalanche mitigation work.

9:10 Parking Update:

Base Area lots are almost full. We do not have overflow parking today. If you have not already left for the mountain, you should wait until spots start opening up around midday.

9:10 Operations Update:

100Laps Park will not open today as the crew deals with the deep new snowfall.

8:45 Operations Update

We will have a delayed opening as teams complete avalanche mitigation.

7:15am Operations Update

Due to impacts from yesterday’s extremely high winds and significant new snowfall, Chair 2 will start the day on mechanical hold. We will continue to update regarding the status of Chair 2 for the remainder of the day.

6:30am Conditions Report

Another overnight dump has brought us 9” of new snow since closing time yesterday, adding up to 23” in the last 48 hours! Conditions are soft and deep out there! The new snow fell light and dry: classic Mission Ridge pow!

Snow is still coming down, which means that a few inches of blower are likely to be found atop the groomed surfaces on most runs. Above Midway, terrain remained untracked yesterday due to high winds, and the sum of the last 2 days’ snowfall will add up to some seriously deep spots out there in ungroomed areas.

The new snow is very light, but yesterday’s layer underneath will have more variability. On the lower mountain, very wet and heavy snow fell for a couple hours on Wednesday night, creating a dense layer that will be underneath the new pow in ungroomed areas. On the upper mountain, high winds yesterday significantly affected the snowpack, creating some incredibly deep drifts while compacting snow and scouring spots in other areas. Winds have abated significantly but it remains breezy out there, with sustained winds in the 20s and gusts in the 30s in the forecast.

Last night’s good luck looks set to continue into the morning, with 4-8″ of snowfall possible by the end of the day. Most of this should fall in the next few hours before a gradual clearing trend begins heading into the afternoon.

There are gonna be some fantastic snow conditions out there today with the deepest conditions of the season so far, but keep in mind that the last 2 days’ worth of new snow have fallen upon a very thin existing snowpack. All terrain on Chair 3 and the upper half of Chair 4 is open on natural snowpack only. The extremely light, dry nature of the new snow makes it great fun, but also means it may not keep you afloat above any hidden obstacles. We know that the stoke factor is high with some deep new snowfall, but please continue to ride with caution and remember that an enticingly fresh surface may hide obstacles and variable conditions.

Additionally, avalanche danger is rated as Considerable today. As always, it is extremely important to stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

We have all Chairs scheduled for operation at this time. Additional terrain will open as conditions permit, pending assessment from Patrol.

Happy Birthday to Mikaela Shiffrin, and we will see you on the mountain!

*Due to an issue with the summit weather instrumentation, our summit wind speed is not reporting accurately at this time. We are working with our partners at NWAC to resolve this issue.
