Snow falls heavily in the Mission Ridge base area.

3/12/26 Conditions Preview

Winter has returned to The Ridge with a vengeance, bringing us windy, stormy conditions that are pummeling us with a fresh blanket of white – but also blowing that new snow all over the place, with very strong sustained winds at the summit. About 6 inches have fallen so far, with the potential for those totals to double by tomorrow morning.

Snowfall began lightly this morning before ramping up throughout the day as visibility fell and winds picked up. With cold temps to start the day, snow quality was dry and light in the morning and early afternoon, before rising temps brought us wetter snow in the Base Area heading into evening. This welcome refresh brought delightful floaty turns and big sprays to our groomed runs as they day closed out, a reminder that winter still has plenty of gas left in the tank!

In addition to new snowfall, this storm has brought sustained high winds, especially to our upper elevations. Chair 2 finished today on wind hold, and winds are projected to remain elevated through the night and into tomorrow. There is significant potential for wind to again impact operations tomorrow.

While tomorrow will bring us some fantastic skiing and riding to enjoy, we want to provide a reminder that – regardless of how deep it may stack up overnight – this snow is falling atop a very thin snowpack. Chair 3 was closed today due to low coverage, and Chair 4 was open only to mid-station. Our patrollers will be assessing conditions in the morning, but even if that terrain is to open, bear in mind that beneath the fresh snow are numerous areas of extremely thin cover and firm base conditions. If Chair 3 opens, all open terrain will be on natural snowpack only, and it is probable that there will be no groomed way down. We know that the stoke factor will be high tomorrow with some deep new snowfall, but please continue to ride with caution and remember that an enticingly fresh surface may hide obstacles and variable conditions.

We look forward to seeing you on the mountain tomorrow!
