12:15pm Operations Update

Chair 2 is on hold due to high winds and low visibility at the summit. We will continue to update regarding Chair 2 for the remainder of the day.

10:00 Conditions Update

Good morning skiers and snowboarders,

I grabbed a couple runs under mostly cloudy skies this morning.  Chair 2 did experience some rain and then re-froze after grooming this morning, which made for a firm surface. However, our heroic groomers did put another swath or two down the center of Tumwater, so there is a nice smooth alley for your descent off of Chair 2 this morning. Winds are expected to increase at the summit later today. The only precipitation I have seen today is that little bit of mixed sleet when I pulled in about 5:45 this AM, which means I stayed perfectly dry during my adventure.

On our lower mountain, Chair 4, which is open to mid-station, is riding quite well. Skiing Lower Chak Chak was as satisfying as a fresh shave with a new blade.

Plenty of room for activities up here today! Come enjoy or soft snow and uncrowded slopes!

Even with limited terrain, there is still plenty of good riding to be found. Stay on open runs, keep things playful, and enjoy a classic Pacific Northwest mix of weather and snow/rain mix.

Today’s conditions update photo commemorates a young man taking his first chair ride! Congratulations, you have just taken your first step into a larger universe! One never forgets their first time on a snowboard, thank you for allowing Mission Ridge to be part of this milestone!

We will see you on the. mountain!

6:30 Conditions Report

Good morning skiers and snowboarders,

Chair 3 is closed for maintenance today, and Chair 4 is operating to mid station only. Open trails today include Pika, Mimi, Lower Tumwater, Sitkum, Lower Chak Chak, 100Laps Park, and Lil Bombers Park.

We had a warm evening yesterday before temperatures dropped to around 28 overnight, helping the surface reset and set us up for a solid start this morning.

Today we are seeing a mix of rain and snow move through the region. The mild precip had turned to light snow/rain mix as I pulled into the parking lot this morning. Expect precipitation on and off throughout the day, with rain and snow this morning, transitioning more toward rain this afternoon, and then back to a rain snow mix later this evening. High temperatures will be near 35. It will be windy at times, with southwest winds increasing through the day and gusts reaching up to around 40 mph.

However, this system is not expected to impact the snowpack the way last week’s warm weather did. Snowfall amounts will stay light, but that bit of moisture should help keep the surface from getting too firm.

Conditions will be a little variable out there today, once again, the most consistent riding found on the groomed runs. Expect a slightly softened surface as the day goes on, with some areas feeling smoother and more forgiving than others.

Even with limited terrain, there is still plenty of good riding to be found. Stay on open runs, keep things playful, and enjoy a classic Pacific Northwest mix of weather and snow/rain mix.
