10:00 Conditions Update:Â
We’re starting the morning with some welcome snow showers and fun skiing! Conditions are good and pretty soft on the groomers – the grooming team has been doing some great work keeping the surfaces even despite the temperature fluctuations over last few days. We’ve got some nice smooth cords on Sunspot & Tumwater except for a couple chunky spots on the upper pitch of Sunspot. The forecast is calling for continued on-and-off snow showers; we aren’t likely to see too much accumulation but hopefully can get a little refresh to soften things up. Chair 3 terrain remains very thin on coverage in places. I dropped down Johnson’s, where there are a significant number of exposed shrubs. This thin coverage is characteristic of all routes down Chair 3. For those seeking some laid back cruising, I’d stick to that Chair 2 terrain where the snowmaking and grooming teams have been able to put in some more work. It’s been a really fun start to 2026 so far and we’re ready to keep things going!
6:30 Conditions Report:
It’s been so long, skiers, I haven’t seen you since last year!
It’s looking like Mother Nature’s new year resolution was to get everyone up and after it, so we are starting 2026 strong with a chance of daytime snowfall across the mountain. That inversion is predicted to revert and kick off a week of snow. Today, expect comfortable temperatures and calm conditions with a gentle wash of snow coming down throughout the day. Temperatures stayed above freezing overnight at the summit. Anticipate softer snow up top that may firm throughout the day or into Night Skiing, and firmer snow at lower elevations that may soften and refirm as the sun tracks its way through the sky. This softening is exacerbated by sun exposure, so Tumwater at Midway tends to get pretty fun, but Chair 3 terrain should remain firm and technical. It’s open on only natural snow over there, with no snowmaking and no grooming, so be prepared for variable conditions and low coverage and ride with caution.
It’s going to be an exciting one so nosh those beans and greens and get up here for your first laps of the new year!
See you on the mountain!

Terrain*
Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.
Areas without snowmaking are open on natural snow only with limited grooming. This includes all open terrain off of Chair 3. Only advanced skiers and riders who are prepared for low coverage and variable conditions should ride Chair 3. There is no easy way down, and all paths of descent will have areas of low coverage and exposed dirt/rocks, including the ‘main’ named runs like Kiwa & Toketie. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.Â
Our snowmaking team has been hard at work building up the snowbase on Chair 4 terrain. Snowmaking infrastructure only exists on lower portions of Chak Chak and Sitkum, so despite the great improvements earned by our snowmaking team, this terrain is dependent on natural snowfall as well. Because of their efforts, Chair 4 terrain is shaping up well and while we aren’t certain when we will be able to open up this part of the mountain, things are looking optimistic.
Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:
- Modified terrain availability
- Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
- Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway
Expected open terrain for 1/1:Â
Scheduled groomed terrain: Mimi, Tumwater, Sunspot, Tower 10, Katsuk, Boundary Road, Hot Dog Hill, & Pika Peak beginner area will be groomed.
Scheduled ungroomed terrain: Upper portion of Tumwater, part of the Fun Park zone, Bomber Access Road, Lip Lip, Nastar, Kiwa (Upper Kiwa will remain closed), Java, Â Lower Toketie, Johnson’s, Tyee, & Kwan
For night skiing, Sunspot, Tumwater, Mimi, & Pika Peak will be open.
*Run status may change at any time.
