1/15/26 Conditions Report

11:00 Conditions Update:

Blue skies and firm snow are the name of the game today. The views above the inversion are, as always, incredible, and it’s so nice to get up above the valley gloom and see some clear sunlight and expansive vistas. Snow conditions are much more consistent than they were yesterday, with a firm but flat groomed surface. It’s also a bit colder compared to the previous days, so we haven’t seen much softening yet in most places. Off-piste, expect things to stay firm today with highly variable coverage. Stick to the groomed runs for a smoother ride.

9:40 Operations Update:

Chair 2 is now open.

8:45am Operations Update:

Chair 2 will start the day on a mechanical hold. We will continue to update regarding the status of Chair 2 for the remainder of the day.

6:30am Conditions Report:

Good morning skiers and riders! We’re getting prepped for another warm and sunny day here at The Ridge. We can once again expect blue skies from dawn till dusk with undercast clouds below. Temps have come down compared to the early part of the week but will remain in the 30s and 40s throughout the day, giving us strong hints of April in terms of conditions and terrain availability.

Temps dropped close to freezing last night, which will have caused the snowpack to firm up both on-piste and off-piste. Compared to the last few nights, chillier near-freezing temps will have helped the grooming team do their work more efficiently last night, but the continued unseasonable warmth may still result in limited grooming today. I’d expect firm, rougher cords to start the day. By the end of the day, we’re likely to see variable on-piste conditions with some areas softening up toward spring conditions while others get scraped off toward hardpack. Off-piste areas will start the day very chattery; there is potential for softening in some areas as things warm up, but conditions will be extremely variable all day long.

It is also important to be aware that, especially given the unusual weather this week, terrain and conditions can always be in flux.  Remember to Pre-ride, Re-ride, and then Free-ride: always take a visual inspection and a couple slower run-throughs of new terrain before diving in. Watch for thin spots, exposed features, and changing surface conditions as the day progresses.

Chair 3 and Chair 4 will remain closed today to help protect what’s left of their snowpack during this warm spell. Keeping these areas closed for the time being gives us the best chance of preserving coverage until conditions cool back down. Chairs 1 & 2 as well as the Pika Peak Rope Tow and the Ottobahn Carpet are scheduled for operation today. Scheduled runs include Sunspot, Tumwater, Mimi, Pika Peak, Lil Bombers Park, & Hot Dog Hill. With night skiing tonight, Chair 2 will be open till 8:30 while the other lifts will spin till 9. We’ll see you on the mountain!
