10:00 Conditions Update:Â
Colder temps let the snowmaking crew work their magic overnight, and we start today with significantly softer on-piste conditions and the guns still on blast from top to bottom. Corduroy is crisp and smooth, its consistency and softness augmented by last night’s snowmaking output. In some spots – notably the Fun Park, Tumwater 2, & Mimi – the continued production after the grooming team got off the hill has left us with a layer of fresh snowmaking ‘pow’ that’s a couple inches deep in places. Of course, this snow consistency is heavier and grainier than real pow, but regardless, it’s very refreshing to ride after the last few weeks of high pressure. Apart from where snow guns remain active, we once again have crystal clear visibility under blue skies and above the cloud inversion. The views are great and the skiing offers some fun cruising and much more soft snow than we’ve seen in a little bit. We’ll see you up here!
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
We’re seeing the first teasing glimpses of the inversion lifting. Morning clouds and steadier and cooler temperatures indicate that this weather pattern is trying to move on and hopefully we will see the inversion lift tomorrow afternoon. We’re still set to have a wide open sky today and through the week.
Temperatures have been riding high through the night and then dropping back down through the day at the summit, with lower elevation temperatures more consistent. Expect firm groomers across the mountain, with softer snow lower down. Upper elevation snow should start the day firm, then soften with sun and traffic. I would anticipate lower elevation terrain to be more consistent in firmness over time as the Base Area and Midway have been experiencing more consistent temperatures. It’s always a good idea to ride with caution, as conditions can be variable.
We’re open late as Night Skiing kicks off tonight! Sunsets are gorgeous at the summit, with expansive views sweeping out in all directions. I recommend catching one, or at least a sunny mountain view today. It’s a good one for it.
See you on the mountain!
