1/23/26 Conditions Report

9:30 Conditions Update:

We’re cruising on some lovely smooth groomers this morning, with good consistent conditions to trust those edges. With some winds hitting Sunspot, it’s a little bit firmer than yesterday but still very even and carve-able. Lower down, it gets softer and more buttery. The snow guns remain on blast above some of the open runs, and if you see the snowmaking team out there, give them a shout – the recent turnaround in conditions is really thanks to them, and it’s a pretty remarkable job. Cold temps today allow them to continue hammering out more production, but this means you can also expect to feel quite a bit chillier than you have in a while – especially at the summit. Dress for winter today.  Clouds overhead are clearing into a beautiful bluebird day, and the cloud below us have backed off into the valley, leaving us in the clear under the cold, crisp glow of the winter sun. Snow guns will remain active throughout the day so expect for some active man-made flakes to be coming down in places and adding soft variability to surface conditions. We’ll see you anytime between now and 9!

6:30 Conditions Report:

Falling temperatures have allowed for aggressive snowmaking over the last few days, working wonders for our groomed conditions on the mountain. Last night continued that trend, with temps in teens all across the mountain and those guns on blast nonstop for several days now. The crews piled up some heaping whales overnight, and even the parking lot and access road picked up a dusting through a combination of blowing man-made snow and a trace of natural snowfall. With all this new snow to work into the groomed surfaces, the past few days have seen on-piste conditions trending softer and softer, with yesterday boasting consistent, buttery corduroy with excellent edge hold. Today should be similar, with good groomed runs, topped in places by a thin layer of ungroomed man-made snow as the guns continue to run into the morning. In un-groomed areas, conditions will be firm, variable, and prone to thin cover.

While conditions should be great on the groomed open runs, terrain availability does remain limited. Today’s scheduled runs include Sunspot, Tumwater, Mimi, Fun Park, Bomber Access Road, Pika Peak, Sitkum, & Lower Chak Chak. Temps are likely to stay cooler today (especially at the summit) than they have in a while, so make sure to dress for winter conditions. With a steady breeze, be prepared for wind chills to flirt with zero in the most exposed areas. Skies will start out cloudy overhead (and underhead), but above Midway we are likely to have good visibility. Overhead clouds will begin to clear throughout the course of the day. We will be open till 9pm tonight, and we are looking forward to seeing you on the mountain!
