1/3/26 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

Although wind and low visibility made things a little challenging at the summit, I was pleasantly surprised that surface conditions were softer than I expected. At the summit we are seeing a some of that softer fresh snow over firmer groomed runs, with variable off-piste snow ranging from firm and exposed patches to wind swept pockets. As I worked my way down the mountain the groomers started to soften up more and the fog began to subside at Midway. Temps are dropping as forecasted and wind speed remains around 30mph in the upper basin, so if you plan to venture up Chair 2 today I recommend layering up and grabbing your low light lenses.

8:00 Conditions Update:

Temps are still hovering in the mid to upper 30s, which means it’s raining down here at the base right. We’ve also received word from the grooming team that due to the challenging conditions, Chair 3 has not been groomed overnight.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning snow folks! On my drive up the mountain this morning I saw rain coming down, and as I parked at the base it was evident that we have received a significant amount of rain across the mountain. Thankfully temps are a wee bit cooler at the Summit, and we transitioned to snow,  receiving a total snow accumulation of 1″ up there. Looking forward, there is hope for today’s snow forecast! It’s looking like temps should start to drop around 7am, and the current precipitation at the base and midway, should hopefully turn to snow, with a total of up to a couple inches snow possible. With temps dropping and not exceeding the low 30’s, I’m anticipating the surface conditions to be a mix bag, with some soft stuff in places off piste near the summit, while off-piste terrain further down the mountain becoming quite variable, extremely firm at present and potentially remaining that way until mid morning. So it may be more ideal to stay on the groomers where the surfaces will be more consistently smooth. Walking around the groomers at base area, they are currently soft with wet snow, but as temps drop that could change and become  firm. We are looking forward to wintry conditions over the next few days, so make sure to come on up and enjoy the last couple days of Christmas break with us!

See you on the slopes!

Lift Status*

  • Chair 1, the Ottobahn Carpet, & Pika Peak Rope Tow are scheduled for operation from 9am to 9pm.
  • Chair 2 is scheduled from 9am – 8:30pm.
  • Chair 3 is scheduled from 9am to 4pm.

Terrain*

Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

Our teams are out assessing conditions on the mountain after we received a significant amount of rainfall overnight. This has saturated our snowpack and resulted in significant melting in places. There is the possibility of additional terrain closures as the crew continues evaluating a dynamic weather day.

Only advanced skiers and riders who are prepared for low coverage and variable conditions should ride Chair 3. There is no easy way down, and all paths of descent will have areas of low coverage and exposed dirt/rocks, including the ‘main’ named runs like Kiwa & Toketie. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

*Run status may change at any time.
