4:00 Conditions Report:Â
We’re getting ready for a fun Mountain Music night on The Ridge and a continued active weather pattern that’s moving back to snow finally! After a rainy morning and slushy afternoon that brought a break in the precipitation, we’re seeing temps dipping back down with 1-3 inches of snow in the forecast tonight. Falling temps is a double edged sword for us in this case: it’s bringing back seasonable wintry conditions and allowing the potential for snow accumulation, but it also means the that the soft, wet snow is likely to firm up as the night progresses.
Currently, Sunspot is very firm while areas lower on the mountain have a firm base that’s mostly covered by a layer of heavy, wet snow – not typical midwinter conditions but very fun to toss around nonetheless. As temps drop, the very firm conditions will probably spread across the mountain unless we start getting some significant new snow accumulation. Therefore, I’d expect the best conditions of the night to be happening soon. If things get too firm out there for your liking, fortunately there’s a lot going on in the Base Area this evening, highlighted by Mountain Music featuring the Black Market Blues Band. This great crew will start their set at 6:30pm in the Hampton Lodge. Join us for dinner, drinks, and live tunes to keep you warm and cozy in between laps! We’ll see you up here.
