A few skiers carve up an overcast slope below a lift line

1/5/26 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

Those cords underboard are feeling nice today with a nice edgeability seen all across the mountain. In general the slopes are firmer toward Midway with upper elevation runs retaining a layer of loose snow on top of the snow base. The middle part of Tumwater is excellent, though a little thin at the top. The transitions into runs from flatter areas tend to get a little scraped from traffic and air movement patterns. Lower down on Tumwater, the snow firms up a bit again. Chair 3 terrain, which is ungroomed, is firm and variable so ride with caution. We can expect the groomers to get a little firmer and more variable as the day progresses.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning skiers!

We received a bit of fresh over the course of the day yesterday, which is currently making new friends in the piste as we have our all-star grooming team out laying down some cords. We have another weather system moving in, which is why the mountain has been blustery of late. This weather system is bringing in cold, wet air off of the Pacific Ocean. Looking forward in the forecast we are expecting several inches to come down over the course of the week, with temperatures dropping low across the mountain to really tuck the slopes in with a nice blanket of white. Until then, we are going to enjoy the sunshine today.

Anticipate softer groomers on top and firmer terrain at lower elevations. The cold temperatures at the summit combined with the new snow should have preserved yesterday’s conditions. Lower elevations may be a little more technical after they firmed up last night. Look to open terrain on the East side of the mountain for something stashy. I reckon that’s where our Westerly could have carried it. We will have sunshine, as clouds are not forecast to move in until evening, giving you plenty of time to soak up some rays!

See you on the mountain!

Lift Status*

Chairs 1, 2, 3, the Pika Peak Rope Tow and the Ottobahn Carpet are scheduled for operation today.

*Chair configuration may change at any time.

Terrain*

Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

Only advanced skiers and riders who are prepared for low coverage and variable conditions should ride Chair 3. There is no easy way down, and all paths of descent will have areas of low coverage and exposed dirt/rocks, including the ‘main’ named runs like Kiwa & Toketie. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

*Run status may change at any time.
