10:00 Conditions Update:Â
We’ve got some dreamy (but cold) conditions on Sunspot this morning with a thin layer of cold smoke lying atop the smooth cords, courtesy of half an inch of new snow overnight and – primarily – a steady wind out of the west-southwest that has deposited a bit of extra snow in many parts of our bowl. This is true of most upper-mountain groomed runs to start the day. Around Midway and below, we’ve gotten less new snow in the last couple days and also less wind, so groomers are bare and on the firmer side. Off-piste, there are some great stashes to be found… look to the trees in the Maggi/Alah area where winds have been blowing snow over the ridgeline and depositing it on the leeward side for the past couple days. Most terrain off Chair 3 also has a good chance at soft snow. However, do keep in mind that variable conditions and areas of thin cover continue to exist across the mountain. I also just got word that patrol dropped ropes on the Windy Ridge hiking gate this morning, and I suspect that there will be some great snow but also plenty of early-season conditions out there. We’re stoked to continue adding more terrain, but – as always – definitely take it easy and feel out your tracks as you begin to explore new terrain. We’ll see you on the mountain all the way till 9pm tonight!
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
Yesterday blessed us with a little powder refresh and we should eek a little more out throughout the day today. With all our chairlifts scheduled for operation, there’s so much mountain to explore and find those stashes still waiting. Ride with caution, as conditions can be variable.
Expect breezy conditions on the mountain today, especially at the summit and on exposed areas. The wind chill is cold so dress for success with layers, and don’t be afraid to break for a bit to warm up in the Midway Lodge or Hampton Lodge with a warm bevy or some food. Groomed terrain should be soft across the mountain, with a chance of wind scour in exposed areas. I would look to tree sheltered terrain and terrain around mid-mountain and below for your best shot at surfy conditions and higher elevation terrain for something a little sturdier.
See you on the mountain!

Terrain*
Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.
Only advanced skiers and riders who are prepared for low coverage and variable conditions should ride Chair 3. There is no easy way down, and all paths of descent will have areas of low coverage and exposed dirt/rocks, including the ‘main’ named runs like Kiwa & Toketie. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.
Terrain accessed from Chair 4 remains early-season and variable. Coverage is still developing, and thin cover, variable snow conditions, and unmarked obstacles exist. Chair 4 terrain is best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers and riders who are comfortable with variable snow conditions, low coverage, and challenging early-season terrain. There is no easy way down from Chair 4.
Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:
- Modified terrain availability
- Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
- Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway
*Run status may change at any time.
