In the words of our snowmaking manager, Guy: “We’ve got piles for miles” on Sunspot, Tumwater, & Mimi this morning. It was a great weekend for snowmaking production with chilly temps across all elevations that allowed guns to run nonstop. Last night, lows were in the teens, and those piles stacked quickly all across the mountain. A few of the whales on Tumwater loomed above head height as I rode up with the crew this morning. We also had the capacity to move a couple guns lower into the Base Area to start prepping the Chair 1 loading zone.
Last night, the grooming team also hit the mountain for the first time this season to push out and pack down the piles on Sunspot and Tumwater 2. Coverage is looking real good up there, and the lower mountain is starting to come together as well.
The forecast is calling for nighttime snowmaking temps to continue through at least Wednesday night. Currently, things are looking mostly dry for the early part of the week, but we’d love to see some more natural snowfall to start building up the base depth off of the main Sunspot/Tumwater/Mimi piste. It was a great weekend, and let’s hope for continued good luck as we head into the week.
