12/20/25 Operations Update

We are excited to be able to announce a limited re-opening on Sunday, December 21st with Chair 1 and the Pika Peak Rope Tow scheduled for operation.

Very favorable forecasts for great snowmaking temps earlier this week ended up coming in warmer than hoped, but the MRSM crew made every moment count and we have enough coverage on Mimi off of Chair 1 to re-start the season. Chair 2 is not currently scheduled for operation on Sunday 12/21 due to a mechanical issue. More info on Chair 2 is available below. Sunspot and Tumwater runs off of Chair 2 will be ready to open once Chair 2 is in operation.

Terrain off of Chairs 3 and 4 do not have enough snow coverage at this time to open. All of Chair 3 terrain and the upper half of Chair 4 terrain is reliant on natural snowfall with only the lower half of Chair 4 terrain having snowmaking infrastructure.  Once snowmaking operations are complete on Mimi and in the Base Area, the MRSM crew will shift focus onto Chair 4 snowmaking terrain.

Chair 2 Update

Storm damage to the upper terminal of Chair 2 during the 12/10 storm event and subsequent 12/17 wind and snowstorm has caused an issue in the Chair 2 electrical system. While teams were de-icing Chair 2 on Friday in preparation of a possible weekend opening, the issue occurred. Crews have been working hard to diagnose the issue but we won’t have an ETA on Chair 2 opening until diagnosis is complete.
