12/21/25 Conditions Report

9:30 Conditions Update:

Wow, it is absolutely fantastic to be back on snow again. There’s some smooth turns to be had on Mimi this morning as we get back after it on our second opening day of the season – hopefully for good this time! Look to the middle of the run for the best conditions this morning, and there’s plenty of space out there this morning with some cords still to be tracked when I headed inside.  The incorporation of this week’s snowfall is keeping things pretty soft on the main corduroy with crunchier conditions near the edge of the piste. There’s a bit more localized variation in surface conditions than usual due to active snowmaking production mingling in with the existing snowpack. Coverage is very strong except for a couple thinner spots near the bottom of the run. So far, temps are staying cold as the morning wears on and we’ve got some snow guns firing on the upper portion of Mimi. We’ll keep those blowing as long as conditions allow.

6:30 am Conditions Report:

Good morning Skiers!

We are excited to open today for a limited opening! The Ridge was blessed with several inches of snowfall across the mountain, which, combined with hard work from our snowmaking and grooming teams, have allowed us to open Mimi and Pika Peak for your enjoyment.

Unfortunately, Chair 2 will be closed today as our lift maintenance crew works to diagnose and address a potential electrical issue. More information on the Chair 2 closure can be found below.

Visibility is currently good across the mountain, but with the chance of precipitation, I anticipate a few clouds moving in. We are expecting some snow on the upper mountain. Lower elevation temperatures ride higher, increasing the potential for mixed precipitation at the base. Expect the snow base to start the day firmer with well-groomed corduroy and soften slightly throughout the day.

Now that we are open, snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

Chair 2 Update

Storm damage to the upper terminal of Chair 2 during the 12/10 storm event and subsequent 12/17 wind and snowstorm has caused an issue in the Chair 2 electrical system. While teams were de-icing Chair 2 on Friday in preparation of a possible weekend opening, the issue occurred. Crews have been working hard to diagnose the issue but we won’t have an ETA on Chair 2 opening until diagnosis is complete.
