A snowboarder follows friends on a snowy, forested road

12/22/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

The sky is almost clear with just enough wispy, low-hanging clouds to capture the morning sunlight. After the longest night of the year, the sun is rising over a gorgeous day at The Ridge. The snow is sweet, creamy under your skis down Kiwa and Java, and neat corduroy through Tumwater and Mimi. It’s pretty calm and crisp across the mountain, with the more sheltered, natural snow-covered runs off of Chair 3 being a little softer than the groomers off of Chairs 1 and 2. There is some variation in piste conditions due to the active snowmaking production, which will continue as long as conditions allow. I cruised down the slopes with joy, stopping every once in a while to admire the valley cast in a rosy glow. The vibe is palpable, everyone is stoked to explore the newly opened terrain with their kiddos or the new friends they met on the lift.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning Skiers!

Nature and our snowmakers have been working in tandem to keep it fresh for you, with a little kiss of natural on top of our designer stuff. We’ve been seeing cold temperatures around the clock that are forecast to bring in some more flurries as the week progresses. As it stands, we are able to open up limited terrain off of Chairs 2 and 3 in preparation for the holiday week.

A bit of sunshine is forecast to start the day today with some snowfall predicted to come in in the afternoon across the mountain. Groomed terrain off Chairs 1 and 2 will have those classic cords which should be pretty soft due to the consistent cold over the past few days. The piste is shaping up well from last week’s storm surge and we’re excited to continue to open more terrain. Snowmaking will continue through today, so make sure to watch out for equipment and personnel on the slopes.

Additional open terrain will include Tumwater 3, part of the Fun Park zone, & the Bomber Access Road off of Chair 2, as well as Kiwa (Upper Kiwa will remain closed), Java, &  Lower Toketie off of Chair 3. Terrain off Chair 3 will be limited and ungroomed. Skiers and snowboarders unloading Chair 3 must exit to the right, follow the road down to access the lower portion of Kiwa, or continue on the road to reach Toketie.

While we’re stoked to be adding more terrain to the mix, keep in mind that thin cover and early season conditions exist across the mountain, but especially on the Chair 3 terrain. There is no snowmaking off of Chair 3, so these trails are open on natural snow only. Most of this snowpack has been compacted by snowcats but has not been groomed. Only advanced skiers and riders prepared for variable conditions & coverage should ride Chair 3. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Now that we are open, snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

We are looking forward to another awesome day to kick off the holiday week and are stoked to have the opportunity to ride some new terrain. We will see you on the mountain!
