A skier and boarder ride together on a snowy, overcast slope

12/23/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

It’s a wonderful day to cruise the slopes. My top-to-bottom diversion pretty much confirmed my suspicions; the snow base is tastefully edgeable at the summit and delightfully technical as you descend. The piste after midway softens slightly again which is a nice little treat. Trail and valley visibility is great although the mountain view from the summit is obscured by the fog that is dispersing the sun without dimming its light. The clouds are promising to hold onto their snow until tonight, which is something to look forward to tomorrow morning, but today I’m stoked to enjoy sinking edges into this sweet snowpack.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning Skiers!

I was very excited to kick up a little white on my walk in this morning. It’s looking calm and clear across the mountain, with some little flurries visible on the summit webcam. Some clouds are forecast to roll in as the morning wears on, so expect diffuse light. We received some natural snowfall overnight which should lend a softer top to the piste for you to edge into today. There is currently active snowmaking on the mountain, which will continue as conditions allow. This will cause some variability in snow consistency. I anticipate the trails will be creamier toward the summit, and a little stiffer toward the base.

Pika Peak Rope Tow and Chairs 1, 2, and 3 are scheduled for operation today. Terrain off Chair 3 will be limited and ungroomed. Skiers and snowboarders unloading Chair 3 must exit to the right, follow the road down to access the lower portion of Kiwa, or continue on the road to reach Toketie.

While we’re stoked to be adding more terrain to the mix, keep in mind that thin cover and early season conditions exist across the mountain, but especially on the Chair 3 terrain. There is no snowmaking off of Chair 3, so these trails are open on natural snow only. Most of this snowpack has been compacted by snowcats but has not been groomed. Only advanced skiers and riders prepared for variable conditions & coverage should ride Chair 3. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Now that we are open, snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

We are looking forward to another awesome day of the holiday week and are stoked to have the opportunity to ride some new terrain. We will see you on the mountain!
