12/24/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

With the precipitation continuing through the wee hours of the morning, the cords are covered by a powdery layer of snow. The snow pack is creamier at lower elevations, with higher elevations boasting a firmer base with a less dense top coat. Ungroomed areas of runs may be a little chundery under the new snow. Snow is continuing to fall on and off, especially around Midway and the summit, with wetter precip falling at the base. This was coming down as rain about an hour ago, but is forecast to turn to mixed snow and rain as the day progresses. It’s a sweet, snowy Christmas Eve on The Ridge and it’s a great day to get the family out to ski.

8:30 Conditions Update:

We’ve seen some warmer temperatures moving in around the Base Area and are currently experiencing rainfall on the lower mountain. We’re still expecting some good conditions on the upper mountain but it’s trending wetter than we initially reported, especially below Midway. Would be a good day to bring up some waterproof layers.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning skiers and riders!

We were very happy to receive 2 inches of new snowfall overnight to add to the light but consistent refreshes we’ve received over the past several days! We’re looking forward to another great day riding Chairs 1, 2, & 3 along with the Pika Peak learning area. Expected conditions will vary depending on whether an area received attention from our snowmaking crew over the last few weeks. Our main thoroughfare on Sunspot/Tumwater/Mimi has received plenty of snowmaking attention and the groomers have been hard at work incorporating the snowfall from the last few days into the snow surface. I’m optimistic about some soft on-piste conditions today, possibly with a dusting of fresh snow atop the corduroy as flurries have continued into the morning hours. Additionally, our parks team had the opportunity to put up fresh build on Lil Bombers (skier’s left on Mimi) last night.

Off the groomed runs, we can expect firmer and more variable conditions with more frequent areas of thin coverage. In particular, this will include terrain off of Chair 3. Yesterday’s skied out surfaces have received a refresh of about 2 inches overnight, but we can definitely expect areas of firmer base – and remember to ease into your turns and feel out your line as we still have early-season conditions, even if the fresh blanket looks enticing. For advanced and expert skiers looking for a challenge, there’s definitely room to explore and likely find some stashes in the ungroomed areas, but for fun cruising, Sunspot, Tumwater, and Mimi would be perfect for you to enjoy some laps today.

Today’s forecast continues to look promising, with temps dropping slightly throughout the day and the possibility for up to an inch of new snowfall at the summit. Hopefully this will keep things fresh throughout the day and we look forward to seeing you up here!

Pika Peak Rope Tow and Chairs 1, 2, and 3 are scheduled for operation today. Terrain off Chair 3 will be limited and ungroomed. Skiers and snowboarders unloading Chair 3 must exit to the right, follow the road down to access the lower portion of Kiwa, or continue on the road to reach Toketie.

Keep in mind that thin cover and early season conditions exist across the mountain, but especially on the Chair 3 terrain. There is no snowmaking off of Chair 3, so these trails are open on natural snow only with ungroomed terrain. Only advanced skiers and riders prepared for variable conditions & coverage should ride Chair 3. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

We are looking forward to another awesome day of the holiday week and are stoked to have the opportunity to ride some new terrain. We will see you on the mountain!
