12/27/25 Conditions Report

12:55 Operations Update:

Chair 3 is closed for the remainder of today due to a mechanical issue that occurred during a guest unloading issue. Our Lift Maintenance team is completing necessary repairs and required safety checks. We anticipate Chair 3 will be back in operation tomorrow, Sunday, December 28. Chair 1, Chair 2, & Pika Peak Rope Tow will remain open as scheduled for the rest of today, including night skiing.

11:00am Operations Update:

Chair 3 is currently on a mechanical hold. We will continue to update regarding the status of Chair 3 for the remainder of the day.

10:00 Conditions Update:

Skies are calm and clear above and the snow is light and soft underfoot. It’s hard to get rid of our smiles on a day like today. Groomers are creamy and smooth, and off piste stashes are for the taking right now, get ’em while they’re hot. Speaking of temps, it’s cold out there folks, with a current summit temperature of 14 degrees, so make sure to layer up. Although we got a nice couple extra inches than what was forecasted, the coverage is still variable and thin in places, and it is important, as always, to ride with caution.

6:30 Conditions Report:

We awoke this morning to a nice surprise as we picked up a bit more overnight snowfall than forecasted: 4 inches of light, dry snow at the summit that fell after we closed for the night yesterday! This adds onto the inch we received during the day yesterday, for a total of 5 inches at the summit in the last 24 hours and 4 inches below Midway. With chilly temps last night, this is likely to be the driest snow quality we’ve seen so far this season. Especially with some gusty winds overnight, that means the areas near the summit will have been affected by the wind – a great opportunity to seek out some deeper areas that have been loaded up, but also with the potential for variable snow depth and condition. Most of the snow fell right around midnight, which has given the grooming team time to work it into the pistes on our groomed runs. This may help soften up those snow surfaces, which were getting a bit firm by the end of the day yesterday. If you’re looking for some stashes, heading for the Fun Park area on Chair 2 could be a good pick, as areas of it often get loaded up when we have a wind from the west like we did last night. Chair 3 terrain will also have ungroomed areas that should hold some good fresh snow, but remember that this may hide areas of thin cover. Chair 3 terrain receives no snowmaking and is suitable for advanced riders only at this point in the season.

After last night’s storm, we’re moving into high pressure today which will bring sunny skies (finally!) and continued cold temperatures with a breeze. It’s gonna be pretty chilly out there with wind chill hovering close to zero at the summit. It’ll be a little warmer lower down and in more sheltered areas, but you should definitely dress for the weather, as always, and be prepared to take breaks – Midway and the Hampton Lodge both have plenty of hot cocoa and delicious warm food. We are so excited to be back out there with some fresh snow and a day that’ll hopefully be bluebird by the time the lifts start spinning.

We’ll be open till 9pm again for night skiing as our second of nine consecutive nights over break. We’ll see you on the mountain!

Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

There is no snowmaking off of Chair 3, so these trails are open on natural snow only with limited grooming. Only advanced skiers and riders prepared for variable conditions & coverage should ride Chair 3. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway
