12/28/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update:

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day on the mountain, with hardly a cloud in the sky and very good snow conditions. Though we only got a trace of new snow overnight, the cold temps have kept things soft and dry underfoot after the snowfall earlier this weekend. Groomed runs are about as good as they get off of Chair 2:  soft and squeaky with incredible views. Rainier, Stuart, Glacier Peak, & the Columbia – all the classic Mission Ridge summit vistas are visible at once for the first time that I’ve seen since we opened this year. I popped over onto Tyee after dropping down Sunspot/Fun Park, and found soft but thin conditions off piste. There’s definitely good snow, but we could still use a little more of it on areas that haven’t seen snowmaking. As always, it’s a good time to use extra caution when heading into less familiar terrain. On the lower slopes, we have active snowmaking going on in some areas, resulting in some areas of variable surface conditions and visibility. Keep an eye out for these spots and be prepared for a change in snow conditions. We’re excited to enjoy the rest of a beautiful bluebird day, and don’t forget to take breaks if needed – it’s chilly out there. Patrol dropped ropes on Boundary Road and WaWa last night, adding a little bit more terrain to the mix for you to explore.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning Skiers!

Mother Nature decided to take the night off after Friday’s four inches. She’s well-earned that rest and she has set us up for a beautiful calm and sunny day at The Ridge today. She didn’t leave us out to dry yesterday, we received a dusting of snow Saturday that should be incorporating into the piste well and keeping it fresh off-piste. The slopes have been sleeping in the teens temperature-wise, so I anticipate softer groomers to start the day. Especially with the snowloading of last week, which was dry and fluffy, I think we’re going to start soft and end soft with a skier-designed mini-mogul pattern on the piste developing as the day progresses. Again, this should be pretty soft so you should be able to plow right through it.

Expect a wide open sky to cut the low wind chill values we’re forecast to experience today but still set yourself up for success on the slopes by layering properly and taking breaks to warm up with hot drinks and food at the Midway Lodge and Hampton Lodge at the base.

See you on the mountain!

Terrain*

Early season conditions exist and limited terrain will be open. Low coverage in places with marked and unmarked obstacles. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety.

There is no snowmaking off of Chair 3, so these trails are open on natural snow only with limited grooming. Only advanced skiers and riders prepared for variable conditions & coverage should ride Chair 3. As always, we urge you to ski and ride with caution and take it easy as you ease onto new terrain.

Our snowmaking team has been hard at work building up the snowbase on Chair 4 terrain. Snowmaking infrastructure only exists on lower portions of Chak Chak and Sitkum, so despite the great improvements earned by our snowmaking team, this terrain is dependent on natural snowfall as well. Because of their efforts, Chair 4 terrain is shaping up well and while we aren’t certain when we will be able to open up this part of the mountain, things are looking optimistic.

Snowmaking operations will continue whenever possible to expand terrain and improve coverage. This may include:

  • Modified terrain availability
  • Snowmaking equipment operating on open runs
  • Variable surface conditions in areas where snowmaking is underway

Expected open terrain for 12/28:

Scheduled groomed terrain: Mimi, Tumwater, Sunspot, & Pika Peak beginner area will be groomed.

Scheduled ungroomed terrain: Upper portion of Tumwater, part of the Fun Park zone, Bomber Access Road, Kiwa (Upper Kiwa will remain closed), Java,  Lower Toketie, Johnson’s, Tyee, & Kwan

For night skiing, Sunspot, Tumwater, Mimi, & Pika Peak will be open.

*Run status may change at any time.
