3:40pm Conditions Report:Â
We’re getting ready to flip on those night lights once again as another great day continues here at The Ridge! We’ve enjoyed clear, sunny skies all day, bringing incredible views and some great skiing and riding. As we head toward night, we’re still reaping the benefits of recent snowfall and cold temperatures, though snow surfaces have been impacted by a day of skier traffic. We can expect variable conditions with some soft piles still kicking around along with areas of firmer conditions, especially where many people have been making turns. On the lower mountain, snow guns were firing today which has added some more densely-settled man-made snow in a few places near Midway.
The really cold temps from the last few days are starting to let up and we’ve moved into a temperature inversion here on the mountain with current readings of 21 degrees at the base and 29 at the summit. Temps should hold fairly steady as we move into the night. There’s been great visibility all day with Rainier out along with the rest of the volcanoes. It’s looking like a recipe for a magnificent sunset, so don’t procrastinate on getting up here!
Today, we were able to add the Ottobahn Carpet to the mix thanks to the overnight work of the snowmaking team. That’s gonna leave us with scheduled lifts including: Ottobahn Carpet, Pika Peak Rope Tow, Chair 1, & Chair 2. Our best terrain for beginners will be on the first 3 of those lifts. Chair 2 terrain is more appropriate for advanced riders, especially at night when conditions are more variable and visibility may be lower. We look forward to seeing you for another great night on the mountain!
