Ski and snowboard tracks over freshly groomed snow

12/31/25 Night Conditions Report

4:00pm Conditions Report:

The final night of 2025 is here, and there’s no better way to spend it than doing some night riding while soaking in some amazing views. There’s still room to make one last memory here on the mountain!

As we head into the evening, we’ve got mostly clear skies and the temperature inversion has stuck around, with balmy temps near 40 at the summit while we remain in the mid-20s on the lower mountain. We should see things start to cool off as we head into the evening and it’s possible some clouds will move in later tonight, but so far it’s looking primed for one last great sunset to close out 2025.

Snow conditions are variable across the mountain at this point in the day after frequent skier traffic. Some areas on the upper mountain are getting a bit heavier amidst the warmer temps, while snow is staying lighter lower down. There are some areas of firm surfaces, especially on the first pitch of Sunspot and on the middle section of Tumwater.

Patrol has dropped some ropes on skier’s left side of Tumwater over the last couple days which may open up a bit of extra terrain for night riding, but keep in mind that those spots have received little or no snowmaking. They are open primarily on natural snow, and while areas of thin cover can exist anywhere on the mountain, these regions are especially prone to thin spots. Be sure to ride with care as always, especially as nighttime can lead to lower visibility and more variable conditions. The main Sunspot/Tumwater/Mimi route has received by far the most attention from snowmakers and groomers and will be the best conditions for some night cruising this evening.
