9:30 Conditions Update:
Day 2 of the 25/26 season is off to a fun start as an enthusiastic group a skiers and riders find some pretty fun conditions enshrouded up here in the clouds! Our grooming team always does a great job, and with only a few runs open they were able to really focus their attention on laying down some smooth corduroy overnight. Snow consistency is best on Tumwater right now, with soft, uniform piste conditions. With high humidity right now and temps just above freezing, the snow is just moist enough to really hold an edge well without getting heavy or sticky. Conditions on Mimi are a bit firmer, while upper Sunspot has a bit of crust where temperatures are hovering around freezing.
We’ve seen intermittent light drizzle in the Base Area this morning, but above Midway there was no precipitation while I was up there. We are likely to experience continued intermittent precipitation as they day wears on, with the potential for a dusting of snow at the top and some rain or mixed precipitation on and off at the Base. So far, precipitation has been minimal and has not had much impact on snow conditions. Temperatures may warm up a few degrees over the day, so I’d expect continued softening of snow surfaces especially with skier traffic concentrated on the limited open terrain. The summit zone may be an exception, where near-freezing temps and increasing winds could keep surfaces cooler, drier, and  firmer.
A big shoutout goes out to our parks crew for getting some features in the Lil Bombers area of Mimi! Although 100Laps isn’t ready to open yet, it’s great to have a couple smaller boxes and rails this early in the season to get warmed up on.
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
With our esteemed grooming team hard at work on the slopes, we are excited to open for another sweet day on The Ridge. We are still riding yesterday’s high this morning in anticipation of some Friday fun. The snow base may be firmer at the top of the mountain and softer at the base, where temperatures stayed above freezing overnight. It’s a great day to lap Sun Spot and Tumwater and if anyone sees some clear goggles on skier’s right, I would like those back. We will have top to bottom corduroy, perfect for easing into the season.
Expect intermittent mixed precipitation at the summit and rain at lower elevations. Winds at the summit are currently 11mph and are expected to increase over the day today, building to a high wind overnight. Here’s hoping they will hold off a bit and are on their way back down by tomorrow morning. We encourage you to ease into the season and, as always, ski and ride with care. Early season conditions and areas of thin cover will exist, and remember to respect all rope lines and trail closures – they are there for your safety. Yesterday the groomed runs started pretty thick but several thin spots emerged over the course of the day. Our grooming team worked hard to cover those up but it is possible the thin spots may return over the course of the day.
This early-season, we’re continuing our tradition of honoring local heroes through the Firefighter and Emergency Personnel Appreciation program. From Opening Day through December 14th, we’re inviting Firefighters, EMTs, and Law Enforcement professionals—including 2025 seasonal personnel—to enjoy free skiing and riding as a thank-you for their service. See you on the mountain!Â
