Mountain View of Mission Ridge with fresh snow on the treetops on a cloudy day.

2/21/26 Conditions Report

1:00 Parking Update:

Spots are opening up in the Main Base Area lots.

10:00 Conditions Update:

Clouds are moving in, and the first foggy flakes of our incoming system are in the air on the mid-mountain! But for now, we’re still tearing into some morning corduroy as we await any accumulation. Groomed surfaces are dry and crisp, with primarily smooth conditions but a few spots of firm hardpack getting exposed. I traversed out toward Lemolo and Alah to check out some ungroomed terrain: there’s a mixture of chalky packed snow, firm base, thin cover areas, and short shots of powder & packed powder. It’s worth exploring, but be prepared for technical conditions suitable for advanced riders only! Clouds are arriving on the mid-mountain and visibility is on a downward trend on Tumwater. But hey, well glad accept some flat light if it brings with it new snow! The summit and base are both in the clear for now. We’ll see you up here. Come soon if you want groomers, and if you’re waiting for freshies, fingers crossed you’ll find ’em this afternoon!

8:55 Parking Update:

Main Base Area Lots are filling up. Once full, we will be shuttling from our offsite lots further down the mountain.

6:30 Conditions Report:

We’re gearing up for some morning cruising as we eagerly await the arrival of afternoon snowfall! We’re currently hanging out above the valley cloud layer with chilly temps in the teens, and peering through the veil enshrouding the snowmaking guns, the corduroy is looking good. We’ll be riding a crisp layer of velvet this morning on the groomed runs, as this week’s new snowfall continues to allow for smooth riding conditions but has started to compact toward a firmer surface. Snow quality remains nice and dry due to the cold temps, which are also enabling rapid snowmaking output on Mimi. It could be quite soft atop the piste on Mimi by the time the lifts start turning. In ungroomed areas, conditions are tracked out and the firm base of the snowpack has been exposed in many areas. Expect variable and technical conditions if you head off the groomed runs.

Cold temperatures will persist today, keeping snow quality light but also requiring good preparation to have a pleasant day on the mountain. With winds forecasted out of the east today, our bowl will be less sheltered from the breeze than usual, so dress warm! By afternoon, an active weather system will be moving into the area, and we could see 1-3 inches by the end of daytime riding! This will work wonders to keep things fresh and lively as we head into the evening. Snow quality should be very light and dry.

Sunspot will be closed today for a race. Turning right off Chair 2, Katsuk and Boundary Road will be accessible, with the Fun Park accessible by traversing over via Katsuk or via a lane to the skier’s left on upper Sunspot. Turning left off the lift, the upper part of Tumwater will be accessible, but this route will be ungroomed.

If you’re thinking of staying for night skiing this evening, it could be a good night for it! Another inch or two of snowfall is in the forecast overnight, so soft conditions may be easy to find. We also have Pizza Party playing in the lodge from 6:30-8:30! We’ll see you on the mountain!
