10:00 Conditions Update:
So you know how ice cream softens from the outside in? Stay with me.
That’s the principle on the mountain today. We’re seeing soft at the top of runs that becomes firmer and more variable as you descend. The top of Chair 4 is sweet and soft (just like that ice cream) until about Midstation where it gains a little firmness and variation. Sun Spot is skiing wonderfully and as you descend into the middle of Tumwater, anticipate variable snow conditions with patches of firmness. Expect off-piste terrain to be very firm, variable, and thin. If you’re brave enough to tolerate it, expect variable conditions and ride with caution. There’s a bit of fog crowning the mountain but that dissipates as you descend into lower elevations. There’s definitely a bit of fog in the valley, so your best chance to get some sun is to get up here!
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
Our little storm blew through yesterday, leaving us with a bit of snow to enjoy. Due to the wet consistency of the snow and the midday warm-up/overnight refreeze, our groomers probably firmed up again. It’s looking like today we’re going to see a little sun and balmy temperatures which will do the snowpack some good. Expect firm snow to start the day, softening as the day progresses, especially in areas of sun exposure. We’re forecast to have a bluer sky up top with some fog at lower elevations as a weak inversion settles over the mountain. As of writing this, the clouds are below the slopes but we transition into daytime temperatures, that should rise.
With these variable conditions, you get a “chose your own adventure” mountain experience. Do you want to test your edges on lower elevations, or do you want to surf Fun Park at noon? Or, do you want to investigate how Chair 4 terrain, ever the wild card, is reacting to these conditions? The answer is all of the above.
Ride with caution and I will see you on the mountain!
