2/4/26 Conditions Report

2:30 Conditions Update:

Chair 4 will be open to mid-station only for the remainder of the day. All guests must un-load at mid-station as Castle is now closed.

10:00 Conditions Update:

Spring conditions are on the menu this morning! At the summit, groomed surfaces are just transitioning from their firm overnight state toward daytime corn, and on the rest of the mountain, that process is well on its way. We have temps in the 30s at the summit and 40s at the base, while a noticeable bank of warm air has Midway cresting 50 at the moment. The skiing is quite good right now with soft, forgiving conditions that have not yet gotten sticky. We will see continued softening on the snow throughout the day and the potential for conditions to get quite wet and heavy on the lower mountain. Ungroomed conditions are variable with some areas having a breakable crust while others retain leftovers of the dense snow we got on Monday. As always, be prepared for changing conditions and coverage today, especially with melting occurring in this warm weather.

6:30 Conditions Report:

Good morning skiers!

A high pressure system has moved into the area and is forecast to linger until the end of the week. Expect some warm temperatures and sunny skies as this weather system hangs over us, and be patient as the weekend may bring us snowfall once more. Until then, we will enjoy these spring-like conditions and balmy temperatures.

The mountain spent the night above freezing so anticipate some mashed potatoes out there. Our groomed runs should start the day soft and continue to be soft throughout the day. We should have lots of light and nice views to enjoy as you surf the slopes today. Those areas that receive the most sun will soften the most, so shadier runs like terrain off of Chair 4 might be a little more supportive than more exposed terrain like the top of Chair 2 terrain. It’s a balancing act between overnight temps, daytime temps, and how much insulation a particular location has against warming factors. It’ll be a playful one mountain-wide today. These are the conditions that make me want to round up all my ski bummiest buddies and rapid fire laps until someone gets hungry.

See you on the mountain!
