10:00 Conditions Update:Â
The transition from the overnight freeze into daytime spring conditions is underway, and with inverted temperatures, that process is working its way from the top down. Sunny spots on Sunspot and Fun Park are getting soft and starting to slow down while the rest of the mountain is skiing firm and crisp. Piste conditions are smoothest on Sunspot with a few bumpier areas on the lower part of Tumwater, where we’ve seen the largest temperature fluctuations over the last 24 hours. Overall, the groomed conditions are continuing to hold up through this high pressure period, while ungroomed areas are very firm, chattery, and variable in coverage. Stick to the groomers for the smoothest ride today! If you’re finding the mood a little gloomy down in town, we have the remedy up here. We are floating high above the clouds with immaculate views in all directions, and the dreamy descent of Sunspot above an ocean of fluffy white is calling all of our names. We will see you up here!
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers!
Our high pressure system continues through today, bringing us sunny skies over head and a cloud inversion below. Should be scenic spring-style riding! We are experiencing a temperature inversion as well: temps stayed in the mid-40s overnight at the summit while dipping close to freezing at the base. The warm trend – and probably the temperature inversion – will continue through the day today. Firm snow to start the morning will soften throughout the day to springy corn.  We’re scheduled for some sun which will help facilitate that softening, so look to areas like Fun Park and Lower Chak Chak for the first indications of softening.
If you’re seeking crisper conditions, join us in the morning or evening. Mid-day, expect some corn and slush to play around in, and great views all day. We’ll be open till 9pm tonight and it’ll be nice and lively up in the lodge, with our Thursday Night Drags teams on the mountain. Yonder Cider and Icicle Brewing will be visiting us today in the Chair 5 Pub to celebrate Thursday Night Drags, but anyone in the Pub is welcome to join in on the fun!
Today, Chair 4 will be open to mid-station only. Everyone must un-load at mid-station, as there is no route down from the top.
See you on the mountain!
