10:15am Operations Update:
After assessment this morning, we are closing Chair 3 due to low snow coverage. Some runs in Chair 3 terrain will remain open but have very low snow coverage, unmarked obstacles, and variable conditions.
10:00am Conditions Update:
It’s a bright and vibrant day up here with clear, cold skies illuminating a wind-affected dusting of new snow. Corduroy this morning is firm and buzzy from top to bottom; the recent dusting of snowfall has been worked into the snow surface and is helping to dry out and lighten up the consistency of the snow. Turns are smooth and predictable, but you’ll want to sharpen up those edges if you’re looking to carve deep. Skies are brilliant deep blue, but don’t let that fool you: it’s chilly up here with a steady breeze at the summit, and wearing some extra layers would be a wise call this morning. If you venture off of the groomed terrain, be ready for variable conditions out there. Half an inch of overnight snowfall has been affected by the breeze, loading some areas a few inches deep while scouring others. Braving some variable coverage and dust on (very firm) crust conditions could lead you to a few soft turns, but the groomers are definitely gonna remain your smoothest ride as we await more snowfall later this week. We’ll see you on the mountain!
6:30am Conditions Report
Good morning skiers and riders!
Winter is holding strong on The Ridge this morning, with cold temperatures, gusty winds, and a light refresh of snow overnight. We picked up 0.5 inches of new snow overnight, just enough to add a thin layer of softness to the mountain after yesterday’s firm conditions.
Temperatures are cold to start the day, with wind chills dipping below zero at times as southwest winds move across the mountain. Expect a brisk start this morning, with firm surfaces underneath that light dusting of new snow. Groomed runs should offer crisp corduroy with a touch of fresh snow on top, while ungroomed terrain will remain firm and variable.
Today’s forecast calls for increasing clouds with windy conditions continuing throughout the day. Snow is likely to develop later this evening, with areas of blowing snow possible as winds increase. Daytime snowfall should remain light, with less than an inch expected before evening.
If you’re planning to explore the mountain today, keep in mind that there will be no groomed runs off of Chair 3 due to low coverage, and surfaces off the groomed terrain will remain variable with areas of firm snow and thin coverage. As always, please ride with caution and watch for marked and unmarked obstacles.
Additionally, the 100LAPS Terrain Park will be closed today as the park crew begins work on a rebuild.
See you on the mountain!
