9:45 Conditions Update:
Chair 1 and Chair 4 are skiing really nicely this morning, with spring corn that is soft, forgiving, and extremely fun under your skis and boards.
We have had partly cloudy skies so far and it is staying dry with no precipitation, making for great skiing conditions on our groomed terrain.
Chair 2 and Chair 3 will not be operating today, so off piste terrain will be limited, but even with reduced operations there is still plenty of room out there to spread out and enjoy the slopes.
The featured couple on todays weather update are Gary and Marsha. If you see them on the hill, please wish them a happy 43rd wedding anniversary!
We will see you on the mountain!
6:45 Operations Update:
Chair 1, Chair 4, and all surface lifts are scheduled for operation today. Chair 3 remains closed for maintenance at this time. Chair 2 will be closed due to increasing avalanche risk caused by the sustained warm temperatures we’ve seen this week.
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers and snowboarders,
Yesterday delivered some spring corn conditions, and we’re expecting a similar feel today, though things will likely start a bit softer this morning.
Overnight temperatures stayed warmer, so we did not see a strong refreeze. That means surfaces will already be soft early and will continue to loosen up as the day goes on.
Expect mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies with a chance of rain through the day. Temperatures will climb to around 45 degrees, with west winds increasing into the 20 to 30 mph range and gusts as high as 45 mph at the summit.
With the limited overnight refreeze, the classic corn cycle will be less defined today. You should still find enjoyable spring turns, but surfaces will become heavier and more variable through the afternoon, especially if we see any moisture.
Expect limited grooming today due to warm overnight temperatures that remained above 40 across all elevations. When temps stay as high as they did last night, it is difficult for the groomers to get out on the mountain without potentially doing more harm to the runs than good. Groomed runs today will be Mimi, Pika Peak, lower Chak Chak, and Castle.
*Due to an issue with the summit weather instrumentation, our summit wind speed is not reporting accurately at this time. We are working with our partners at NWAC to resolve this issue.
