10:00 Conditions Update:
The sun is already burning through those high clouds, and the winds are not yet as strong as previously predicted, making for another calm classic spring day up the Ridge.
Current temperature at the base is 42f, and surfaces are softening sweetly to produce sugary, surf-able slashes from the summit all the way down through Mimi. Chair 4 runs are a little firmer to start out as they are less trafficked, and the lower half is not yet in the sun, especially Lower Chak Chak.
Any off-piste riding has minimal coverage, and boasts the firmest surfaces on the mountain. Keep in mind that it’s spring: areas of thin cover exist all across the mountain, and conditions can change actively, especially on a warmer day. Any ungroomed spots will start – and likely end – the day with extremely firm conditions. So, as always, please continue to ski and ride with caution.
Practice is underway for the Bomber Banked Slalom, and berms are looking smooth and flow-y with some fun whoops to close out the course to cross the finish line. Today is a great day for spectating and cheering on your snowboarder friends!
Wherever you’re at today remember to take a moment to soak it all in! As we see signs of spring slowly taking over the slopes, enjoy the views and vistas that surround our little valley, and remember that life is always a little sweeter on the mountain.
6:30 Conditions Report:
Good morning skiers and riders!
The sun will begin the day a little shy, hiding behind the clouds. But as skies clear later this morning, it will eventually grace us with its full, unfiltered presence. Bring on that classic spring-time shine!
Surfaces will reflect spring conditions also. We’ll start the day out with smooth, firm groomers, with gradual softening to a more sugary, corn-like consistency as temps rise with the sun. We are expecting a high of 37 degrees at the base today, so surfaces may turn to a more dense consistency at lower elevations with increased sun exposure, but will likely remain firmer at the summit as it’s forecast to experience a stronger west wind up to 30mph and gusts of up to 44mph by the afternoon.
Keep in mind that it’s spring: areas of thin cover exist across the mountain, and conditions can change actively, especially on a warmer day. Any ungroomed spots will start – and likely end – the day with extremely firm conditions. So, as always, please continue to ski and ride with caution.
Today’s scheduled runs include Sunspot, Tumwater, Mimi, Lower Sitkum, & Lower Chak Chak, along with 100Laps and Lil Bombers parks.
We are excited to host the 13th annual Bomber Banked Slalom for snowboarders, going down both Saturday and Sunday. This fast and flow-y race is set to start down Katsuk (just below the yeti) and wind its way through the Fun Park. If you’re a skier with FOMO (like me) you’ll surely enjoy spectating this awesome event!
Starting on Monday, 3/30, we are moving to our spring operating schedule and will be open on Saturdays and Sundays only. We will be closed Monday-Friday next week (3/30-4/3) and will reopen on Saturday (4/4) for the weekend. Today’s the day to get a final fix of Midweek fun.
Don’t forget that 26/27 Season Passes are on sale now! Choose the pass that fits your schedule from Twilight, Core Value, Mid-Week, or Premier, and get stoked for the 26/27 season.
*Due to an issue with the summit weather instrumentation, our summit wind speed is not reporting accurately at this time. We are working with our partners at NWAC to resolve this issue.
