Sunday Forecast

Colder temps yesterday allowed snowmaking to start back up again, which we always love to see. Continued snowmaking throughout the night has things looking good for this morning. Surface conditions will start out slightly firmer today than yesterday, but things should hold up nicely a while longer as well. With more sunshine and little to no wind, it looks to be another great day on the slopes. Whether this will be your 11th day of the season, your first time up this year, or you want to try out skiing or riding for the first time, today is going to be a fun day.

Sunshine, Skiing, Saturday

Everyone was really surprised yesterday about how good the surface conditions really were. With no significant recent snowfall, mild temps, and even a little bit of rain earlier in the week, it is understandable for people to expect sub-par conditions. But when you factor in the superior caliber of our Snowmaking Crew and system and the passion, patience, and skill of our Groomers, it’s pretty easy to see why we have the best groomed runs in the state. It also is easy to understand why surface conditions are going to be quite nice, especially in the morning, even though common consensus would suggest they have no right to be.

Best Way to Spend Friday

We are looking forward to rippin’ off some turns in a bit of sunshine today. Temps will be comfortable, winds should be light, and the corduroy firm while still holding a good edge. Today’s forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of snow before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Winds will be light today across most of the mountain with the chance of moderate winds on top of the Ridge.

Outlook For Friday

As of 3:20pm on Thursday, I  have just returned to the office after a test run from the top of the Ridge. Surface conditions on the single cat wide groomed track actually blew me away. You know when you leave ice cream in the freezer to long and it grows those crystals and it gets that almost graining texture?  That’s what comes to my mind as I sit here trying to explain the conditions. It wasn’t mashed potatoes soft or very firm...it was, hmmm, just very enjoyable! Off of the groomed track was definitely very firm, but you wont have to worry about that tomorrow as our grooming crew will be hard at work to make sure that everything is dialed when you put planks or boards to the snow.

Sunday Forecast

It looks to be a great day to get out of the fog and smog of the valleys and catch some rays while carving some cords. Forecast: Partly sunny with a high near 32 degrees and little to no wind. Surface Conditions: The groom came out looking good this morning. You can expect firmer conditions to soften slightly throughout the course of the day.

Saturday Recap

We had a great day out on the hill. Surface conditions evolved throughout the day, but fun was definitely had by all. Sometimes we take for granted good early season skiing conditions, but when it comes down to it, it's the 6th of December and we are tearing it up from the top to the bottom of the mountain. We always want more...more snow, more chairs, more terrain. But when you talk to the people on the hill, it quickly becomes clear that skiing and riding is about just that. Get up, get out, and get on the hill! It is seriously fun up here!

Fun Saturday On The Slopes

The morning run check went so well I had to make 2. Things are a little firmer in places than expected, but overall the surfaces are holding a good edge. There were a number of spots with 2" of new on top of nicely groomed corduroy that definitely put a smile on the face. As of 10am it is not too late to elevate your perspective and get up to the hill.

1-2" Of New And Super Soft Turns Today

We received 1-2” of new snow overnight and these mild temps should make for some more fun, almost spring like conditions today. Yesterday’s light rain and wintry mix does not seem to have had a major impact on the runs other than keeping them nice and soft. If the temp does drop over the course of the day things could definitely firm up, but things are forecast to remain pretty steady and I am looking forward to getting out there and carvin’ it up.
