12/31/20 Conditions Report

10 AM Update: What a way to send out 2020! I just got back in from a few laps, and the conditions were great. It's amazing what some snow can do for the soul, I heard a lot of joyful hooting and hollering on the hill. Look for the conditions to become variable and firmer over the course of the day and evening. It's the last day of 2020, phew! It's currently snowing up here and we've received 2" of new snow overnight and 5" in the last 48 hours. The new snow will provide some great turns on top of the fresh groomers this morning. Look for the conditions to become variable and firmer over the course of the day and evening. Off-piste (non-groomed) surface conditions are variable. Early season conditions do exist with thin coverage in places. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the conditions and remember that we are asking that everyone use their car as their base camp as there is no inside seating at this time and capacity restrictions are in place for all inside spaces. Chairs 1, 3, 4 and the Pika Peak Rope Tow are scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm and then we will have Chairs 1, 4 and the Pika Peak Rope Tow scheduled for Night Skiing from 4pm to 9pm.

It is important that everyone recognizes that this season will be different from any we’ve experienced. It is up to every individual, both ski area employee and guest, to do their part to help protect the health and safety of our skiing and snowboarding community. The health of our team is our number one priority. Our expectation is that each one of us will follow protocols to help keep each other healthy. We ask all employees and guests to share in this responsibility and help us, “be the reason we have a season.”

A person in a Yeti costume highfiving a snow santa

The Mission Ridge Christmas Story

‘Twas 6 in the morning, when all through Mission Ridge’s Lodge like house Not a creature was stirring, not even a Pika (which is essentially a really fat mouse). The beer mugs were placed, on the bar shelves with care In hopes that fresh ale, soon would be there. The Groomers were nestled all snug in their Snow Cats, Layin’ down that sweet corduroy that’s so beautiful to look at. The best Snow Makers around were busy building that base, And the Yeti at the summit was trying to make calls to outer space. Suddenly over the radio arose such a clatter, That this snow reporter set down his coffee, to see what twas the matter. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a beautiful new day on the rise, more fun on the slopes drawing near. There’s fresh snow in the forecast and a high near 27, And we hope that new snow falls heavy like manna from heaven. The groomed runs have been buffed out for you in advance, But the corduroy might not last long as Cowboy Doug the groomer saw Prop Man doing a midnight snow dance. While this morning there may not yet be new snow on the ground, The Lift Mechanics And Ops will have chairs 1, 3, and 4 a runnin’ for you to make many a round. We hope that your stockings were stuffed, and your presents stacked like a fountain, And look forward to soon seeing you on the mountain. Happy Holidays to you and yours from everyone here at Mission Ridge!

12/24/20 Conditions Report

Reminder that we will be closing early today, at 2 pm and tomorrow we will open at 11 am. This Christmas Eve day looks like it will be mostly sunny skis with colder temps again. With the consistent temps the last few nights, our grooming crew has been able to work their magic, as the groomers at the base feel like they will provide excellent turns this morning. Expect firm conditions at the top of Chair 3 and off piste. We are looking at a high of 28 today, so make sure to dress accordingly. Thin coverage, early season conditions, and marked and unmarked obstacles exist. Respect all rope line and trail closures as they are there for your safety.
