As we enter June, the mountain forest is alive with birdsong and the welcoming aroma of fresh plant life. Wandering up the Lake Clara Trail for the first time in a couple weeks, I was impressed by the new growth on the lower trails
Gazing up at over 2000 feet of vertical gain, the lush green shades of new life brighten the lower mountain, while far above Windy Ridge and Microwave are clinging resolutely to the fading vestige of winter.
I was curious to see whether spring had yet sprung on this 3-mile-roundtrip trail that winds through the forests beneath Mission Peak to its namesake lake, and by the end of the hike my conclusion was: sort of.
What an incredible season! Thank you to each and every one of you for another winter full of lifelong memories.
IT'S NOT OVER YET! We've still got several skiable hours left in the season and I think they're going to be good ones. Overnight temperatures had the decency to be closer to freezing than the night before which will potentially lengthen our structured morning for a while. I'm still asking if it's T-shirt weather yet, and it might be for you with the high forecast for the low 40s and lots of sun.
Get ready for an awesome Closing Day on The Ridge to round out the 24/25 Season! Fittingly, we're expecting continued balmy temperatures as the second day of Flamingo Days takes flight into clear blue skies!
