Gazing up at over 2000 feet of vertical gain, the lush green shades of new life brighten the lower mountain, while far above Windy Ridge and Microwave are clinging resolutely to the fading vestige of winter.

I was curious to see whether spring had yet sprung on this 3-mile-roundtrip trail that winds through the forests beneath Mission Peak to its namesake lake, and by the end of the hike my conclusion was: sort of.

What an incredible season! Thank you to each and every one of you for another winter full of lifelong memories.

IT'S NOT OVER YET! We've still got several skiable hours left in the season and I think they're going to be good ones. Overnight temperatures had the decency to be closer to freezing than the night before which will potentially lengthen our structured morning for a while. Is it T-shirt weather yet? It depends on your cold tolerance. With a high in the high 40s and lots of sun in the forecast, I think we're getting close. The last time the mountain even thought about below freezing temperatures was a few days ago and I wish I had a corny joke for you about that but I anticipate the snow is going to be soft, wet, and thick.
