Daily operations have been extended through March 21st and four more evenings of Night Skiing on March 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th have been added as well. We truly appreciate all the support, encouragement, and patience from our Passholders, guests, and community throughout the Wenatchee Express chairlift process and are adding in these days and nights to say thank you to everyone. We want to make sure there is as much opportunity as possible to enjoy the Wenatchee Express and the terrain it accesses this season.

Wenatchee Express Opening Day

We are excited to announce the Wenatchee Express chairlift opened for the first time Wednesday, February 17th! The new high-speed, four-person chairlift replaces the old Liberator Express chairlift in the same position but features chairs with plexiglass bubble covers, a shorter ride time, and loading/unloading from inside the new top and bottom terminal buildings. The chairlift is unique in the Pacific Northwest and will be a one-of-a-kind experience for snowboarders and skiers in the region. This chairlift is going to be a dramatic improvement for Mission Ridge, our Passholders, and our guests. We have always had amazing natural beauty and exceptional skiing conditions, but this lift is going to be truly transformational.

Chair 2 Project Update

The certification inspection for the Wenatchee Express is now complete. The last 3 days were spent reviewing all aspects of the chairlift with Washington State and US Forest Service inspectors. We now have only a few checklist items to complete prior to receiving the certification from the state. The crew has been hard at work today wrapping up these final tasks and finishing touches will continue tomorrow. We look forward to one final update coming soon! As soon as we know with certainty of when the Wenatchee Express will open we will communicate that date. This announcement may come quick and at a moment's notice.

Chair 2 Project Update

Final inspections for the Wenatchee Express certification got underway yesterday, 2/12 despite the below zero temperatures. Load testing, a significant component of the inspection, requires riders' weight to be simulated by cardboard boxes filled with a bag of water on each chair. Needless to say working with hundreds of gallons of water per chair in below zero temps is not an enviable task. The load test was completed successfully along with numerous other aspects of the inspection. The final inspection for the Wenatchee Express continues this weekend. There cannot be an opening date until after the certification of the chair. As soon as we know with certainty when the Wenatchee Express will open we will communicate that date. This announcement may come quick and at a moment's notice.

Chair 2 Project Update

Closer every day. We are so very close. Yesterday, Friday the 5th, all carriers were loaded on the Wenatchee Express for the very first time. It was a truly awesome sight, stopping both snowboarders and skiers as well as employees for a moment to take in the beauty of our new chair. For so many who have worked so long and hard on this project, as well as those who have waited in great anticipation since the end of last season, it was an emotional moment. While the timeline for this project has stretched on longer than anyone would have preferred, this is a huge project and will be a tremendous improvement for our passholders and guests. This is not just a chairlift. This is an investment in the Mission Ridge community that will be enjoyed for a long, long time Load testing and final inspections are scheduled for Friday the 12th. While things are subject to change, we are in really good shape right now. Between now and the certification of the lift, we will be loading carriers and running the chair while  testing all of the systems in advance of inspections. There cannot be an opening date until after load testing and the certification of the chair. As soon as we know with certainty when the Wenatchee Express will open we will communicate that date. This announcement may come quick and at a moment's notice. We know everyone is very excited for that announcement. Thank you all for your support and patience as we look forward to soon loading the Wenatchee Express for the first time.

On The Way Up: Episode 16

Up, up, and away! In Episode 16 of On The Way Up, Mission Ridge owner Larry Scrivanich talks about what this chair means to him, our valley, and what's to come for the project. We take a look at the initial testing the chair has undergone the last week, and Delcie expresses the emotions so many of us feel to see Chair 2, The Wenatchee Express, running fully loaded with carriers for the first time. We wrap up the episode with a peak of what it takes to put the loading conveyor together and tested, and Delcie takes a lap down from the top and touches the wing for a bit of good luck!

On The Way Up: Episode 15

The haul rope has moved into it's new home on the mountain! In Episode 15 of On The Way Up, Delcie gives us an update on what's happened over the last week, what's to come, and then we take an in-depth look at the haul rope process from putting it on the line to the splice.

Chair 2 Project Update

One of the most interesting, and most critical, aspects of the Chair 2 replacement project is now complete! The haul rope has been spliced and is sitting in place. At 56,000 pounds and 14,000 feet long, the haul rope is an impressive component of the chair. Make sure to check Out Episode 15 of On The Way Up to take a detailed look at the processes. Now the finishing touches for the alignment of terminals and towers can be completed. Finishing work on the electrical connections on each tower will also be taking place this week as well as work on the loading carpet and the system that moves the carries from the garage to the haul rope at the beginning and end of each day. The project is in the home stretch and the finish line is in sight. Once the work is completed, necessary inspections and testing will be scheduled. We look forward to updating you again soon as we approach opening day for the Wenatchee Express!
