12/23/20 Conditions Report

It looks like we will be delivered mostly sunny skis and colder temps today, this day before Christmas Eve. With the consistent temps last night, our grooming crew was able to work their magic, as the groomers at the base feel like they will be good carving this morning. Expect firm conditions at the top of Chair 3 and off piste. We are looking at a high of 26 today, so make sure to bring the appropriate gear. Thin coverage, early season conditions, and marked and unmarked obstacles exist. Respect all rope line and trail closures as they are there for your safety. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the conditions and remember that we are asking that everyone use their car as their base camp as there is no inside seating at this time and capacity restrictions are in place for all inside spaces.

12/22/20 Conditions Report

Yesterday was the shortest day of the year but it sure packed in a lot of different weather. Fresh snow and soft powder thurns in the morning transitioned to wind and rain in the afternoon. On top of the 5” of new snow we awoke to in the morning, we picked up a decent amount of rain mid-mountain and below. Temperatures cooled overnight and a light snow returned across the mountain. This morning we have a trace of new snow in the Base Area and 1” of new snow in the upper-mountain on top of very firm surface conditions. Make sure to take it easy your first couple of laps out to get a feel for the conditions.

12/21/20 Conditions Report

10 am Update: No case of the Mondays here! The temps have warmed up a bit but we have not seen any of the forecast rain and are enjoying great turns out on the mountain. The 5” of new snow is skiing very nicely with slightly drier snow near the top of Chair 3 and wet powder as you approach Midway. Groomed runs are soft and smooth but may firm up/become more variable over the course of the day if the temperatures drop. 7 day a week operations are in full effect and we hope to see you on the mountain soon! | Early Morning Update: The week is off to a fine start with 5” of new snow picked up overnight! Our snow total for the last 48 hours is 7” and 8” in the last 72 hours. Temps are rising here in the Base Area and we do have the potential for mixed precip today before 2pm. Look for conditions to become more variable as the day progresses depending on where the temps land. With the new snow, we plan to open the top of Chair 4 this morning with access to Castle run. Chair 3 will also be open today with the run Kiwa compacted. Chair 1 and the Piak Peak Rope Tow will be open as well with all operating lifts open from 9am to 4pm. There is still thin coverage, early season conditions, and marked and unmarked obstacles out there. With the blanket of new snow on top of everything, some areas may look a little better then they are. Make sure to easy style it your first couple of laps out to get a feel for conditions. Respect all rope lines and trail closures as they are there for your safety. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the conditions and remember that we are asking that everyone use their car as their base camp as there is no inside seating at this time and capacity restrictions are in place for all inside spaces.

12/20/20 Conditions Report

9:30 am Update: The clouds are breaking up and we are starting to see a little blue in the sky! There is a light layer of soft snow covering Chair 3 terrain that gets a little heavier (more moisture in it) as you approach Midway. Remember that coverage is thin on Chair 3 and things may look a little better with the fresh snow than they are underneath. Marked and unmarked obstacles do exist. Make sure to take it easy for first couple of laps to feel out the conditions. Lower Tumwater and Chair 4/Chair 1 surface conditions are firm on the groomed runs and there is a breakable crust off the sides of the runs. For the remainder of the day we are looking at Mostly sunny skies with a temperature rising to near 37 by 11am, then falling to around 31 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.  It does look like it will be a bit breezy today so make sure to dress appropriately for the conditions and remember that we are asking that everyone use their car as their base camp as there is no inside seating at this time and capacity restrictions are in place for all inside spaces.

12/19/20 Conditions Report

10am Update The weather has shaped up very nicely this morning with calmed winds and comfy temps. Surface conditions on Chair 1 and 4 are smooth and firm with pockets of wind deposited snow from last night. Look for groomed conditions off of those chairs to become more variable throughout the day. We are excited to have Chair 3 open today with multiple runs open for the first time. Early season conditions exist! There is thin coverage on Chair 3 and we recommend experts only at this time. Take it easy out there your first few runs to check things out first. We are still expecting the weather to roll in today with the possibility of a couple of inches of new snow so keep doing those snow dances! Just a heads up as well, there is no access to Chiar 3 from Chair 4. Please use Chair 1 to check out Chair 3 today. When the weather outside is frightful, skiers and snowboarders get excited because that means fresh snow! This year it will be more important than ever to make sure you come dressed for the conditions especially when the temps drop, the wind picks up, and the snow starts to fly. We ask that everyone use their car as their base camp as there is no inside seating at this time and capacity restrictions are in place for all inside spaces. 12/18/20 Conditions Report

We had a fun time yesterday kicking off 7 day a week operations! We are now open daily from 9am to 4pm. Chair 1, Chair 4 to the mid-station unload, and the Pika Peak Rope Tow are scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm today. Open runs will be Mimi, Pika Peak, Lil’ Bombers Terrain Park, Lower Sitkum and Lower Chak Chak. Look for this morning's machine groomed runs to becoming more variable throughout the day. At this time, there is no off-piste terrain open. Early season conditions exist. Thin coverage. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety. The 5” of new snow we’ve picked up in the last 48 hours were a needed addition to our early season snowpack but not quite enough to add in Chair 3 or additional terrain quite yet. We are looking at a potential warm up today and then a return to cooler temps for the weekend. There is a chance of precipitation over the next 72 hours transitioning from a wintery mix to snow as we approach Saturday morning. Fingers crossed for cooler temps to prevail and the potential 7” of new snow forecast by the end of the day Monday to deliver. Skiing from the top of Chair 4, Chair 3, and additional terrain will open as soon as conditions permit.

12/17/20 Conditions Report

Here we go! 5” of new snow overnight and 6” in the last 48 hours. There's a bit more snow in the forecast over the next couple of days as well. This new snow is a much anticipated bump for our early season base and a nice refresh for our groomed runs. We still need a bit more to start seeing more runs and Chair 3 coming into play, but we will be out on the mountain checking things out and additional chairlifts and terrain will open as soon as conditions permit. For today we have Chair 1, Chair 4 to the mid-station unload, and the Pika Peak Rope Tow scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm. Open runs will be Mimi, Pika Peak, Lil’ Bombers Terrain Park, Lower Sitkum and Lower Chak Chak. For surface conditions we are looking at some nice groomed runs this morning becoming more variable throughout the day. At this time, there is no off-piste terrain open. Early season conditions exist. Thin coverage. Please stay on open runs and respect all rope lines/trail closures as they are there for your safety. We are now open 7 days a week through the end of February! Night skiing operations will start December 26th and run Wednesday through Saturday nights. 12/13 Conditions Report

Sunday is here and it has brought with it 1” of new snow overnight. That fresh snow has mixed in well to the groomed runs and we are looking forward to some nice corduroy cruising this morning. Look for surface conditions to become firmer and more variable over the course of the day. There is a chance for a little more snow today and otherwise, we should see temperatures in the mid-twenties and cloudy skies. Chair 1, Chair 4 to the mid-station unload, and the Pika Peak Rope Tow are scheduled for operation from 9 am to 4 pm. Remember to purchase your tickets, rentals, and now food online! That's right, you can order your lunch, brunch, or a mid-afternoon snack from the Chair 5 Pub online for pick-up.
