A trace of new snow fell overnight, bringing our storm totals to 2 inches in the last 24 hours, 17 inches in the Upper Basin over the last 48 hours, and 14 inches near Midway. Winter has returned in full, and the mountain continues to rebuild quickly following last week’s weather.

The good news is clear: winter is back and the mountain is coming back into shape. Unfortunately, the timing of this most recent storm and the return of sustained cold temperatures is just a bit too late to support a Saturday reopening.

Winter is officially back on the mountain! After Mother Nature hit the reset button hard, melting away our natural snowpack with strong winds, heavy rain, and warm temperatures, we’re thrilled to share some good news.

Snowmaking finally had a chance to get back out there this afternoon after the wild weather of the past week or so! Last night saw more high winds and a trace of new snow that got blown around quite a bit.

This past week has brought a remarkable and challenging stretch of weather to our region. We will target Saturday, December 20th as our earliest possible reopening date, conditions permitting.

To preserve the snowpack we have and to give our teams the time needed to clean up after this unprecedented weather event, we will remain closed through this weekend.
